Scripture says that through faith in Christ’s death and resurrection, our lives are now “hidden with Christ in God” – we have a new identity secured in Him.
Not only this, but Jesus empowers us to flee from earthly, sinful things (vv. 5-9). He gives strength to “put to death” sins like lust, greed and anger that used to control us. Through Christ, are rescued from judgment for sin.
Most importantly, Jesus enables us to walk in a new way – to be continually renewed according to His likeness (vv. 10-11). Our “new self” is made righteous through Christ’s perfect life credited to us.
Through trusting in Jesus Christ – in His death taking the punishment for sins, burial and victorious resurrection – we can be rescued from sin’s power and death’s grip. By faith in Christ alone we receive new life, a new identity, and grace to live holy lives for His glory. This is truly good news for all who believe.
