Time to Shine

In this sermon, Adam Brock challenges us to work out our salvation in every area of our lives as we follow the example of Christ, who humbled Himself for our sake. He explains that our salvation is not something we can produce but rather, something that God works within us.
Episode Notes
What does it mean to “work out your salvation”?
What it doesn’t mean
- It does not mean you need to work in order to be saved, Ephesians 2 clearly states salvation is by grace through faith, not by works
- It does not mean producing a salvation from an inward source. There is no “spark of divinity” within us that can produce righteousness. We need a Savior because we are infected by sin.
- It does not mean working to stay saved. The “fear and trembling” refers to reverence for God, not a harsh master.
What it does mean
- It means to complete and carry salvation to its conclusion. To grow deeper in maturity in the things of the Lord.
- It means letting salvation work its way through every part of you, surrendering and allowing God access to transform you.
- It changes everything – finances, purity, ethics, priorities. You must let this salvation take hold of your whole life.
When the Apostle Paul challenged us to “work out your salvation,” he called us to spiritual growth and maturity by allowing the salvation we have received to permeate every area of our lives.
